Welcome to PAD’s Fall 2014 newsletter!
Public art has been in the news of late, with the award of a MacArthur fellowship to Rick Lowe, the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize to Maya Lin, and the recent promotion of longtime public art advocate and author, Tom Finkelpearl as Commissioner of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs. He will be honored by PAD this year with our annual award for outstanding contribution to the field. In the meantime check the College Art Association website for details of the meeting in New York City, February 11-14, 2015, where PAD will also host a panel co-chaired by Cher Krause Knight and Harriet F. Senie titled “Museums and Public Art: Coexistence or Collaboration,” exploring the evolution of this changing relationship.
Members will be receiving a copy of the most recent issue of Public Art Dialogue (Volume 4: Issue 2). In addition to the print copy of the current issue of the journal, PAD members also have access to current as well as archived issues. Instructions on how to access this benefit may be found here. Be sure to check the journal website for future issues and consider submitting an article, artwork, or conversation. As always, we look forward to your comments.
We have started to post career opportunities of interest. Anyone is welcome to submit such information to our Facebook and Twitter pages.
Let’s keep the dialogue going! If you are not a member or have not renewed your membership, we encourage you to do so by clicking here. We are currently offering a discount on two-year memberships.
All best for a peaceful and productive season,
Harriet and Kelly
