Kelly Pajek Bio

In her sixteen years working with public art, Kelly has worked nationally to cultivate the work of artists in the civic landscape. In 2012 Kelly joined the public art team at the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture. Kelly hails from New York City (NYC), where she was the deputy director of Percent for Art, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs. Prior to Percent for Art, Kelly managed projects for Fort Worth Public Art in Texas and the NYC Metropolitan Transportation Authority Arts for Transit program. Kelly has commissioned emerging and established artists in the development of more than eighty permanent and temporary artworks. Awards for projects Kelly has curated and managed have included the New York City Design Commission Award for Excellence in Design, Americans for the Arts Public Art Network Year in Review, New York Landmarks Conservancy, Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award and the Municipal Arts Society, New York City Masterworks Award. Kelly creates work that is craft based; she is also a supporter of do-it yourself projects and independent markets. Her artistic sensibility is a fusion of well-crafted work of all practices with a balance of good design.
