Sierra Rooney Bio

Sierra Rooney is a Ph.D. student at Stony Brook University. She received her M.A. in Art History with a concentration in Museum Studies at The City College of New York. For her master’s thesis she posited Vita Brevis, a public art initiative at Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art, as a successful example of the collaborative role public art can play in a museum. Her research interests include art in the public sphere and attendant concerns: temporality, site specificity, and audience engagement. Sierra has interned at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, New York’s Percent for Art Program, and Creative Time.
